BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a portable container for solid and liquid foods, such as cereal and milk. The present invention accommodates a busy lifestyle by allowing people to take mixable liquid and solid foods with them in a single package, to be mixed and consumed at their convenience.

Various types of containers for holding liquid and solid foods, such as milk and cereal, have previously been developed. For example, Ascone U.S. Re. Pat. No. 35,437 discloses a reusable milk and cereal container having a removable freeze pack adjacent a milk compartment, separate milk and cereal compartments with a valve interposed therebetween, and an optional detachable spoon.

Lenahan U.S. Pat. No. 5,514,394 discloses a container for mixing cereal and milk, where the contents are kept in separate compartments and are mixed by applying hand pressure to the container.

Newarski U.S. Pat. No. 5,727,679 discloses a single use cereal and milk container of plastic or paperboard, wherein the contents are mixed by means of removing a seal from the cereal compartment and opening a valve in the milk compartment. All references cited herein are incorporated by reference.

Beneziat/Silaire U.S. Pat. No. 4,410,085 discloses a drinking tumbler enabling two doses of constituents to be mixed at the moment of consumption. This document shows all features of the preamble of claim 1.

The present invention provides a more convenient portable edible liquid and edible solid container than the containers already known in the art. The easy-to-transport, portable container of the present invention enables the consumer to easily mix the dry and liquid ingredients, without worrying about spilling the contents, and to subsequently easily eat the mixed components. One embodiment of the container fits automobile cup holders. The container is resealable after opening and preferably includes a spoon.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a portable single container for storing an edible liquid separate from an edible dry component. The present invention permits a user to easily mix the liquid with the dry component without spilling the contents in a readily transportable container.

In one embodiment, the present invention is a portable container for transporting a solid and a liquid and comprises an outer vessel having at least one internal projection; an inner vessel received in the outer vessel, the inner vessel is rotatable within the outer vessel and has a removable top and at least one opening covered by a frangible membrane. A sealing member seals the outer vessel to the inner vessel. When the inner vessel is rotated within the outer vessel the at least one internal projection ruptures the frangible membrane and provides communication between the inner vessel and the outer vessel.

The present invention further comprises a method for storing an edible liquid separate from an edible solid in a container and subsequently mixing the liquid with the solid in the container. The present method comprises the steps of: providing a container having an outer vessel and an inner vessel, the outer vessel having at least one internal projection and the inner vessel having a removable top and at least one opening covered by a frangible membrane; placing the inner vessel into the outer vessel to define an inner space between them; placing an edible liquid in the inner space and an edible solid in the inner vessel; sealingly joining the inner vessel to the outer vessel; and rotating the inner vessel within the outer vessel, thereby causing the at least one internal projection to rupture the frangible membrane and permit mixing of the edible liquid with the edible solid.

These and other features and advantages of this invention will become more apparent to those skilled in the art from the detailed description of a preferred embodiment. The drawings that accompany the detailed description are described below.

DESCRIPTION

Referring to the Figures, wherein like numerals indicate like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, in Figure 1 a portable container according to the present invention is generally indicated at 20. Container 20 includes an outer vessel 22, an inner vessel 24, a sealing member 26, and a lid 28. Inner vessel 24 is received within outer vessel 22 and sealing member 26 seals inner vessel 24 to outer vessel 22. An inner space 29 is defined between inner vessel 24, outer vessel 22, and sealing member 26. Outer vessel 22 further includes a plurality of projections 30 that project into inner space 29. In one embodiment, projections 30 are V-shaped fins. In a preferred embodiment, container 20 includes a plurality of projections 30, but as would be understood by one of ordinary skill in the art and as explained below, container 20 could be formed with a single projection 30. Outer vessel 22 further includes a socket 32 formed in one end of outer vessel 22. Socket 32 is centrally located. Opposite socket 32, outer vessel 24 includes an upper rim 34. Upper rim 34 includes a plurality of ribs 36 and 38. A groove 39 is formed between two of the ribs 38.

Inner vessel 24 includes a plurality of openings 40. In one embodiment, inner vessel 24 includes a first plurality of openings 40 adjacent one end of inner vessel 24 and a second plurality of openings 40 adjacent a second end of inner vessel 24 and spaced apart from the first plurality of openings as shown in Figure 1. Each of the openings 40 is covered by a frangible membrane 42. In a preferred embodiment, frangible membranes 42 each include a projection 44 which extends away from frangible membrane 42 and into inner space 29. In one embodiment, inner vessel 24 includes a ball 46 mounted to a stem 48 which extends centrally from one end of inner vessel 24. Ball 46 is received rotatably in socket 32. This provides a rotatable connection between inner vessel 24 and outer vessel 22. As would be understood by one of ordinary skill in the art, the rotatable connection between the inner vessel 24 and the outer vessel 22 could take a number of other forms including, for example, a simple projection extending from inner vessel 24 that is received in a depression in outer vessel 22 (not shown). Inner vessel 24 further includes an upper rim 50 having at least one groove 51 bounded by a plurality of ribs 52. Inner vessel 24 further includes a removable top 54. Preferably, removable top 54 includes internal threads, which threadingly engage external threads adjacent upper rim 50 of inner vessel 24 (not shown).

In one embodiment, sealing member 26 comprises a U-shaped annular member having a long leg 56 and a short leg 58. Long leg 56 includes a groove 62 and a rib 64. Short leg 58 includes a pair of ribs 60 and 64.

Lid 28 includes a rib 68 and preferably accommodates a spoon 66.

Figure 2 is a view along line I-I of Figure 1. In the embodiment shown in Figure 2, outer vessel 22 includes a pair of projections 30 located adjacent each of the projections 44 of frangible membranes 42. As would be understood by one of ordinary skill in the art, container 20 could be designed with either a single projection 30 or a single projection 30 adjacent each projection 44.

Figure 3 is a cut-away view of container 20 shown fully assembled. When container 20 is assembled the inner vessel 24 is inserted into outer vessel 22 and inner vessel 24 is loaded with an edible dry product 70, see below. An edible liquid is then placed in inner space 29. Then sealing member 26 is secured to outer vessel 22 and inner vessel 24 to seal outer vessel 22 to inner vessel 24 and to seal the edible liquid within inner space 29. In the embodiment shown in Figure 3, rib 60 of short leg 58 of sealing member 26 is received in groove 51 of inner vessel 24. In addition, rib 64 of short leg 58 contacts inner vessel 24. This seals sealing member 26 to inner vessel 24. Groove 39 of outer vessel 22 receives groove 62 of sealing member 26. In addition, ribs 36 and 38 of outer vessel 22 engage sealing member 26 and rib 64 of sealing member 26 engages outer vessel 22. Thus, sealing member 26 is sealingly engaged with outer vessel 22. Rib 68 of lid 28 is received in groove 62 of sealing member 26 to sealingly secure lid 28 to sealing member 26. Container 20 can further include a tamper resistant outer covering surrounding lid 28, not shown, as is known in the art.

As discussed above, inner vessel 24 contains an edible dry ingredient, such as for example, cereal. Inner space 29 contains an edible liquid, such as for example, milk. In Figure 4, an alternative location for spoon 66a is shown. In this embodiment, spoon 66a is attached to the outside of container 20. In Figure 5 a user is shown rotating removable top 54 to rotate inner vessel 24 within outer vessel 22. This rotation causes projections 30 to rupture frangible membranes 42 thereby causing communication between inner space 29 and inner vessel 24. This communication permits the edible liquid within inner space 29 to flow through openings 40 into inner vessel 24 thereby mixing the edible liquid with the edible dry ingredients within inner vessel 24. As shown in Figure 6, once a user has removed removable top 54 a spoon 66 can be used to consume the edible ingredients 70 mixed with the edible liquid.

In Figure 7 a prospective view of an alternative embodiment of a container 20a is shown. Components common between the embodiment shown in Figures 7-10 and Figure 1 are designated with like numerals and the suffix "a". Container 20a includes an outer vessel 22a, a sealing member 26a, and a lid 28a. The outer dimensions of outer vessel 22a include a lower end 72 sized to be accommodated in an automobile cup holder.

Figure 8 is a partial cross-sectional view of the container 20a of Figure 7. Container 20a is similar to container 20 as shown in Figure 1. The main differences between the embodiment shown and Figures 7-10 and Figures 1-6 reside in the contour of outer vessel 22a, which is followed by the contour of an inner vessel 24a. In addition, container 20a includes a sealing member 26a that is shaped somewhat differently from sealing member 26. Specifically, sealing member 26a includes a pair of ribs 76. which are received in a sealing manner in a pair of grooves 74 located in outer vessel 22a. Sealing member 26a is compression fit onto inner vessel 24a to provide a sealing connection between sealing member 26a and inner vessel 24a. As shown in Figures 10 and 9, container 20a includes a removable top 50a, which is threadingly received on inner vessel 24a adjacent upper rim 50a. In addition, lid 28a includes a rib 68a, which is received in groove 62a of sealing member 26a to seal lid 28a to container 20a.

Preferably the components of container 20 and 20a are formed out of a plastic material. But other suitable materials, such as for example, stainless steel are also acceptable.

The foregoing invention has been described in accordance with the relevant legal standards; thus the description is exemplary rather than limiting in nature. Variations and modifications to the disclosed embodiment may become apparent to those skilled in the art and do come within the scope of the invention. Accordingly, the scope of legal protection afforded this invention can only be determined by studying the following claims.

Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, der ferner eine drehbare Verbindung zwischen dem Innengefäß und dem Außengefäß umfasst. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 2, wobei das Außengefäß eine Gelenkpfanne umfasst und das Innengefäß eine Kugel umfasst, wobei die Kugel in der Gelenkpfanne aufgenommen wird, wenn das Innengefäß in dem Außengefäß aufgenommen wird, wobei die Kugel und die Gelenkpfanne die drehbare Verbindung bilden. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, wobei die zerbrechliche Membran ferner wenigstens einen Vorsprung umfasst, wobei der Vorsprung der zerbrechlichen Membran mit dem wenigstens einen inneren Vorsprung des Außengefäßes in Kontakt kommt, wenn sich das Innengefäß im Außengefäß dreht. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, der ferner einen abnehmbaren Deckel umfasst, der abdichtend auf dem Abdichtelement aufgenommen wird. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 5, wobei der Deckel oder das Abdichtelement eine Rippe aufweist und das jeweils andere der beiden eine Rille aufweist, die in die Rippe eingreift, um den Deckel am Abdichtelement abzudichten. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Innengefäß eine erste Mehrzahl von Öffnungen, die jeweils durch eine zerbrechliche Membran abgedeckt und neben einem ersten Ende des Innengefäßes angeordnet sind, und eine zweite Mehrzahl von Öffnungen umfasst, die jeweils durch eine zerbrechliche Membran abgedeckt sind, wobei die zweite Mehrzahl von Öffnungen von der ersten Mehrzahl von Öffnungen beabstandet und neben einem zweiten Ende des Innengefäßes angeordnet sind. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, der ferner einen Innenraum umfasst, der zwischen dem Innen- und dem Außengefäß definiert ist, wobei der Innenraum eine essbare Flüssigkeit und das Innengefäß einen essbaren Feststoff enthält. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Abdichtelement oder das Außengcfäß eine Rippe aufweist und das jeweils andere der beiden eine Rille aufweist, wobei die Rille in die Rippe eingreift, um das Abdichtelement mit dem Außengefäß abdichtend zu verbinden. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Abdichtelement oder das Innengefäß eine Rippe aufweist und das jeweils andere der beiden eine Rille aufweist, wobei die Rille in die Rippe eingreift, um das Abdichtelement mit dem Innengefäß abdichtend zu verbinden. Tragbarer Behälter nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Abdichtelement in einem abdichtenden Presssitz auf dem Innengefäß angebracht wird, um das Abdichtelement am Innengefäß abzudichten. Verfahren zum Aufbewahren einer essbaren Flüssigkeit getrennt von einem essbaren Feststoff in einem Behälter und anschließenden Vermischen der Flüssigkeit mit dem Feststoff in dem Behälter, das die folgenden Schritte umfasst: a) Bereitstellen eines Behälters mit einem Außengefäß und einem Innengefäß, wobei das Außengefäß wenigstens einen inneren Vorsprung hat und das Innengefäß ein abnehmbares oberes Ende und wenigstens eine durch eine zerbrechliche Membran abgedeckte Öffnung hat; b) Platzieren des Innengefäßes in dem Außengefäß, um einen Innenraum dazwischen zu definieren; c) Füllen einer essbaren Flüssigkeit in den Innenraum und eines essbaren Feststoffs in das Innengefäß; d) abdichtendes Verbinden des Innengefäßes mit dem Außengefäß; und e) Drehen des Innengefäßes in dem Außengefäß, wodurch der wenigstens eine innere Vorsprung dazu gebracht wird, die zerbrechliche Membran zu zerreißen, und ein Vermischen der essbaren Flüssigkeit mit dem essbaren Feststoff ermöglicht wird. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, das den weiteren Schritt des drehbaren Verbindens des Innengefäßes mit dem Außengefäß umfasst. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, das den weiteren Schritt des Bildens eines Vorsprungs an der zerbrechlichen Membran umfasst, wobei der Vorsprung mit dem wenigstens einen inneren Vorsprung des Außengefäßes in Kontakt kommt, wenn das Innengefäß in dem Außengefäß gedreht wird. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, wobei Schritt a) ferner Folgendes umfasst: Versehen des Innengefäßes mit einer ersten Mehrzahl von Öffnungen, die jeweils von einer zerbrechlichen Membran bedeckt und neben einem ersten Ende des Innengefäßes angeordnet sind, und Versehen des Innengefäßes mit einer zweiten Mehrzahl von Öffnungen, die jeweils mit einer zerbrechlichen Membran bedeckt sind, wobei die zweite Mehrzahl von Öffnungen von der ersten Mehrzahl von Öffnungen beabstandet und neben einem zweiten Ende des Innengefäßes angeordnet ist; und Schritt e) ferner das Drehen des Innengefäßes in dem Außengefäß umfasst, wodurch der wenigstens eine innere Vorsprung dazu gebracht wird, die zerbrechlichen Membranen zu zerreißen, die die erste und die zweite Mehrzahl von Öffnungen bedecken. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, wobei Schritt d) ferner Folgendes umfasst: Bereitstellen eines Abdichtelementes und Bilden einer Rippe in dem Abdichtelement oder dem Außengefäß und Bilden einer Rille in dem jeweils anderen der beiden und Ineingriffbringen der Rille mit der Rippe, um das Abdichtelement mit dem Außengefäß abdichtend zu verbinden. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, wobei Schritt d) ferner Folgendes umfasst: Bereitstellen eines Abdichtelementes und Bilden einer Rippe in dem Abdichtelement oder dem Innengefäß und Bilden einer Rille in dem jeweils anderen der beiden und Ineingriffbringen der Rille mit der Rippe, um das Abdichtelement mit dem Innengefäß abdichtend zu verbinden. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, wobei Schritt d) ferner Folgendes umfasst: Bereitstellen eines Abdichtelementes und Anbringen des Abdichtelementes am Innengefäß im Presssitz, um das Innengefäß am Abdichtelement abzudichten. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, das ferner den weiteren Schritt des Bereitstellens eines abnehmbaren Deckels und Abdichten des abnehmbaren Deckels am Behälter umfasst.

A portable container for transporting a solid and a liquid comprising: an outer vessel, an inner vessel received in said outer vessel, said inner vessel rotatable within said outer vessel, a sealing member sealing said outer vessel to said inner vessel,

characterised in that said outer vessel has at least one internal projection and said inner vessel has a removable top and at least one opening covered by a frangible membrane,

wherein when said inner vessel is rotated within said outer vessel said at least one internal projection ruptures said frangible membrane and provides communication between said inner vessel and said outer vessel.
A portable container as recited in Claim 1 further including a rotatable connection between said inner vessel and said outer vessel. A portable container as recited in Claim 2, wherein said outer vessel includes a socket and said inner vessel includes a ball, said ball received in said socket when said inner vessel is received in said outer vessel, and said ball and said socket forming said rotatable connection. A portable container as recited in Claim 1 wherein said frangible membrane further includes at least one projection, said projection of said frangible membrane contacting said at least one internal projection of said outer vessel when said inner vessel is rotated within said outer vessel. A portable container as recited in Claim 1 further comprising a removable lid, said lid sealingly received on said sealing member. A portable container as recited in Claim 5 wherein one of said lid and said sealing member includes a rib and the other of said lid and said sealing member includes a groove, said groove engaging said rib to seal said lid to said sealing member. A portable container as recited in Claim 1, wherein said inner vessel includes a first plurality of openings each covered by a frangible membrane and located adjacent a first end of said inner vessel and a second plurality of openings each covered by a frangible membrane, said second plurality of openings spaced apart from said first plurality of openings and located adjacent to a second end of said inner vessel. A portable container as recited in Claim 1 further comprising an inner space defined between said inner and said outer vessel, said inner space including an edible liquid and said inner vessel including an edible solid. A portable container as recited in Claim I wherein one of said sealing member and said outer vessel includes a rib and the other of said sealing member and said outer vessel includes a groove, said groove engaging said rib to sealingly join said sealing member to said outer vessel. A portable container as recited in Claim 1 wherein one of said sealing member and said inner vessel includes a rib and the other of said sealing member and said inner vessel includes a groove, said groove engaging said rib to sealingly join said sealing member to said inner vessel. A portable container as recited in Claim 1 wherein said sealing member is sealingly compression fit onto said inner vessel to seal said sealing member to said inner vessel. A method for storing an edible liquid separate from an edible solid in a container and subsequently mixing the liquid with the solid in the container comprising the steps of: a.) providing a container having an outer vessel and an inner vessel, the outer vessel having at least one internal projection and the inner vessel having a removable top and at least one opening covered by a frangible membrane; b.) placing the inner vessel into the outer vessel to define an inner space between them; c.) placing an edible liquid in the inner space and an edible solid in the inner vessel; d.) sealingly joining the inner vessel to the outer vessel; and e.) rotating the inner vessel within the outer vessel, thereby causing the at least one internal projection to rupture the frangible membrane and permit mixing of the edible liquid with the edible solid. A method as recited in Claim 12 comprising the further step of rotatably connecting the inner vessel to the outer vessel. A method as recited in Claim 12 comprising the further step of forming a projection in the frangible membrane, the projection contacting the at least one internal projection of the outer vessel when the inner vessel is rotated within the outer vessel. A method as recited in Claim 12 wherein step a.) further comprises providing the inner vessel with a first plurality of openings each covered by a frangible membrane and located adjacent a first end of the inner vessel and providing the inner vessel with a second plurality of openings each covered by a frangible membrane, the second plurality of openings spaced apart from the first plurality of openings and located adjacent to a second end of the inner vessel: and step e.) further comprises rotating the inner vessel within the outer vessel, thereby causing the at least one internal projection to rupture the frangible membranes covering the first and second plurality of openings. A method as recited in Claim 12 wherein step d.) further comprises providing a sealing member and forming in one of the sealing member and the outer vessel a rib and forming in the other of the sealing member and the outer vessel a groove, and engaging the groove with the rib to sealingly join the sealing member to the outer vessel. A method as recited in Claim 12 wherein step d.) further comprises providing a sealing member and forming in one of the sealing member and the inner vessel a rib and forming in the other of the sealing member and the inner vessel a groove, and engaging the groove with the rib to sealingly join the sealing member to the inner vessel. A method as recited in Claim 12 wherein step d.) further comprises providing a sealing member and compression fitting the sealing member to the inner vessel to seal the inner vessel to the sealing member. A method as recited in Claim 12 comprising the further step of providing a removable lid and sealing the removable lid to the container.

Récipient portatif selon la revendication 1, comprenant en outre un espace interne défini entre ledit réceptacle interne et ledit réceptacle externe, ledit espace interne englobant un liquide comestible et ledit réceptacle interne englobant un solide comestible. Récipient portatif selon la revendication 1, dans lequel, un des éléments, ledit élément d'étanchéité ou ledit réceptacle externe, englobe une nervure, l'autre des éléments, ledit élément d'étanchéité ou ledit réceptacle externe, englobant une rainure, ladite rainure s'engageant dans ladite nervure pour relier de manière étanche ledit élément d'étanchéité sur ledit réceptacle externe. Récipient portatif selon la revendication 1, dans lequel, un des éléments, ledit élément d'étanchéité ou ledit réceptacle interne, englobe une nervure, l'autre des éléments, ledit élément d'étanchéité ou ledit réceptacle interne, englobant une rainure, ladite rainure s'engageant dans ladite nervure pour relier de manière étanche ledit élément d'étanchéité sur ledit réceptacle interne. Récipient portatif selon la revendication 1, dans lequel ledit élément d'étanchéité est ajusté par compression et de manière étanche sur ledit réceptacle interne pour relier de manière étanche ledit élément d'étanchéité sur ledit réceptacle interne. Procédé de stockage d'un liquide comestible séparément d'un solide comestible dans un récipient et de mélange ultérieur du liquide avec le solide dans le récipient, comprenant les étapes ci-dessous : a) fourniture d'un récipient comportant un réceptacle externe et un réceptacle interne, le réceptacle externe comportant au moins une saillie interne et le réceptacle interne comportant une partie supérieure amovible et au moins une ouverture recouverte par une membrane frangible ; b) agencement du réceptacle interne dans le réceptacle externe pour définir un espace interne entre eux ; c) agencement d'un liquide comestible dans l'espace interne et d'un solide comestible dans le réceptacle interne ; d) liaison étanche du réceptacle interne avec le réceptacle externe ; et e) rotation du réceptacle interne dans le réceptacle externe, entraînant ainsi la rupture de la membrane frangible par la au moins une saillie interne et permettant le mélange du liquide comestible avec le solide comestible. Procédé selon la revendication 12, comprenant l'étape additionnelle de connexion par rotation du réceptacle interne sur le réceptacle externe. Procédé selon la revendication 12, comprenant l'étape additionnelle de formation d'une saillie dans la membrane frangible, la saillie contactant la au moins une saillie interne du réceptacle externe lors de la rotation du réceptacle interne dans le réceptacle externe. Procédé selon la revendication 12, dans lequel l'étape a) comprend en outre l'étape d'équipement du réceptacle interne de plusieurs premières ouvertures recouvertes chacune par une membrane frangible et agencées près d'une première extrémité du réceptacle interne et d'équipement du réceptacle interne de plusieurs deuxièmes ouvertures, recouvertes chacune par une membrane frangible, les plusieurs deuxièmes ouvertures étant espacées des plusieurs premières ouvertures et agencées près d'une deuxième extrémité du réceptacle interne ; l'étape e) comprenant, en outre l'étape de rotation du réceptacle interne dans le réceptacle externe, entraînant ainsi la rupture des membranes frangibles recouvrant les plusieurs premières et deuxièmes ouvertures par la au moins une saillie interne. Procédé selon la revendication 12, dans lequel l'étape d) comprend en outre les étapes de fourniture d'un élément d'étanchéité et de formation dans l'un des éléments, l'élément d'étanchéité ou le réceptacle externe, d'une nervure, et de formation dans l'autres des éléments, l'élément d'étanchéité ou le réceptacle externe, d'une rainure, et d'engagement de la rainure dans la nervure pour relier de manière étanche l'élément d'étanchéité au réceptacle externe. Procédé selon la revendication 12, dans lequel l'étape d) comprend en outre les étapes de fourniture d'un élément d'étanchéité et de formation dans l'un des éléments, l'élément d'étanchéité ou le réceptacle interne, d'une nervure et de formation dans l'autres des éléments, l'élément d'étanchéité ou le réceptacle interne, d'une rainure, et d'engagement de la rainure dans la nervure pour relier de manière étanche l'élément d'étanchéité sur le réceptacle interne. Procédé selon la revendication 12, dans lequel l'étape d) comprend en outre les étapes de fourniture d'un élément d'étanchéité et d'ajustement par compression de l'élément d'étanchéité sur le réceptacle interne pour relier de manière étanche le réceptacle interne sur l'élément d'étanchéité. Procédé selon la revendication 12, comprenant en outre l'étape de fourniture d'un couvercle amovible et de fixation étanche du couvercle amovible sur le réceptacle.
